My New Writing Journey Begins

My writing journey is heading down a brand new road, and I've been busy. The contract with OakTara Publishing has been signed, and my editor has been sent my tweaked manuscript, the dedication and acknowledgment pages, stock photos of how I visualize the main characters for the cover artist to use, plus a few more other items.

Most recently, I've been working with a good friend who is developing a book trailer for me. Similar to movie previews/trailers, book trailers are becoming more and more popular. They are another way of getting the word out there about a book and can be posted most anywhere on the Internet. It's fun going through stock photos and taking some pictures of my own, each picture seemingly bringing my story to life.

These days most authors, well-published or new, have to build a platform and work at marketing their books. And you don't start doing that the day the book is released. I've already been working on building my platform, which essentially is how many people do I have the ability to reach through this blog, FaceBook, Twitter, and other social networks. Also through organizations I belong to like ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers), my church, etc.

I've been working on updating my website to announce the news that Thyme for Love will soon be coming out (probably after the first of the year). I'll know more about the release date in a couple months. My next step is to develop an author page on FaceBook. It's often been said that the real work begins AFTER you write the story and contract with a publisher. I'm learning that real fast.

I am depending more and more on God to give me wisdom in prioritizing and how to develop my areas of influence to get my author name and book title out there. Funny, I've been working so much lately on humility and the right attitude of mind. None of this writing gig is my own doing. It is God who gave me the talent and desire to write, and it is He who enables me now to be published, and it is He who will bless me with book sales when the time comes. It is so important that I keep this in mind as I go forward.

Below is a blurb about Thyme for Love. Can't wait for everyone to be able to meet April Love and Marc Thorne, the main characters in this romance with mystery.

Pam, this sounds great! I can't wait to read more. With such a love of Lake Geneva, I can't wait to see how you pay tribute!

Looking forward to following your blog! Have a terrific day!

Thanks for your comments! Michalene, Thyme for Love takes place in a fictional village next to a fictional lake somewhere out east of LG off Highway 50. April and Marc go into LG to eat and hang out several times in the story. They met when he worked on the Water Safety Patrol and she was a mail jumper on the Walworth. :-)

My Romance, Dream A Little Dream of Me, is set in 1933 when the Riv was built and opened. That one is out for consideration right now.

Thanks for your good wishes Susan. The trailer is slowly coming together.

It's a very exciting time.
